Why I reconsider my career aspiration from teacher to airline business mogul

I don’t know why but since Pre-K, I have wanted to be a Teacher. I know it sounds strange a 4 to 5-year-old wanted to be a teacher. To this day, I still don’t know why. But ever since, I got to use technology to expand my knowledge about the stuff I love to learn about. And you know my interest. I have a dedicated section on this site just for that. And every time I said I wanted to be a teacher, everyone kept asking which kind. As I got more into technology and everyone saw I had a talent for computers. I said compute teacher around 5th grade. But around 10th grade, the aspiration went all away.

I went to a High School called the Queens High School of Teaching. When I heard about this school, my expectations were that you take your basic classes, extracurricular and you have a class on being a teacher. Wrong. It was just a joke for 4 years. I am still shocked that I survived a school that really wanted you In and Out in 4 years, and you can read my review here. And the funny part is that my dad has never liked the school since the Open House. I should have listened.

But the leading cause why I decided education wasn’t for me was Multiple reasons. One was the lack of a degree to be a computer teacher. Every teaching position has a degree; Science teachers go for the teaching in science degree, Physical Education teachers for the physical education teaching degree, etc. But looks like no such thing for computer teachers. And let’s not forget how the NYC Department of Education classifies computer teachers. I found out it’s at the discretion of the principal. Most DOE computer teachers are registered social studies or science teachers and incorporate either subject into a computer class. And they “teach” you how to use Word and PowerPoint. Besides those two issues and the “planning” for what school I want to teach in. I lost it.

But it looked like ever since; I love to go on an airplane or go to the airport, which was very rare in my life because I never travel often. I wanted to learn more about the industry. When I learned about JetBlue, they became my focus airline/content airline. I always focus a lot on the airline. I was to the point that I wanted to work for the company and probably manage it, too, as I also got into the interest of being a business person as well. The business inspiration started in 5th grade. Then in 10th grade, while we keep talking about college left and right. I was like, let’s combine aviation and business; then apparently, there was a degree for that.

So even though I wasted 4 years in a school that was supposed to teach me to be a teacher, did not really do their job (also being the worst school in NY), and I lost interest in the industry because of how faulty the system was. Plus no such thing as a degree for a computer teacher. I said screw it, let’s go to an industry where you can actually do something and get free flights for. And I’m just getting started to where I want to be in my adulthood. Just started off working for JetBlue and planning to grow the ranks in the company.
